How to Create, Build & Sell Business Opportunities Online

Personally i’ve sold over 300 business opportunities across a range of markets… including online. The process to create a business opportunity is much the same across industries from my experience, with minor tweeks to make based on industry.

Let me give you an example of the power of creating and selling a ‘business licencing model’, and the excellent leverage you can create yourself without going down the path of a franchise, but rather licencing.

First of all, lets look at the basic difference between a franchise and a licence:

A franchise requires you to follow a process and system specifically, with set pricing, royalties to pay, uniforms to wear etc etc.

Buying a licence normally means you buy a system that has worked for someone else, and do ‘whatever’ you want with it… meaning that you don’t have set marketing materials to use, uniforms, set prices etc. The obligations involved with buying a licence are very loose and not very binding, which many people prefer.

Example of how to create, build and sell a business opportunity of your own:

Lets use the example of online busineses… you can adapt the theory to your own type of business.

Step 1) Come up with something that works. For example, I know how to get websites onto page one of google fast, and make money from those websites… I do it over and over again using my own system and can prove it. I just highlighted the word ‘prove’ for a reason, because that’s how I will sell online business opportunities. So now I have CREATED the business.

Step 2) Now I need to BUILD the website business up to a point where I can sell it. To build the website I sell online advertising to create a revenue stream which then creates proof of income.

Step 3) Now I can SELL a business opportunity to people that will teach them how to start their own online business to sell. If I could show you one-on-one how to get websites creating an income (and prove it to you), and you could use the system over and over again, would you pay $2,000 to learn how? Most people would because it’s home based and simple.

If I teach just one person per week, that would be $100,000 p/yr from home. Not rocket science. I could probably charge double this amount and have people lining up to learn how.

THEN… I could sell the my students master rights to sell my system to others for $20,000… only need to sell 5 of those per year to make another $100,000!

You can follow this system for just about any business… if you prove that it works, people will buy it!

Part Time Business Opportunities for Men, Women and Kids NZ

Here is an interesting way to make money as a family!

Many families are doing different businesses and jobs under the one household roof… and it can cause a family member to loose interest in what the others are doing. For example, the wife of an average income family might have a small business that the husband doesn’t have any interest in at all, so it makes the wife’s job harder to get motivated and passionate about making the business thrive.

What if the wife, husband and kids all started a part-time business opportunity together that was a low cost & low risk start up?

Can you imagine how much higher the probabilities of success would be? What about all the different business ideas that would be created from the different ‘perspectives’ men, women and kids have! Children aren’t silly, and if you ask them the right questions, they might ‘dream up’ a business to start! If the kids are thinking of it, there could be a huge business in it!

3 Typical responses to starting a business:

When you ask a kid what type of business they would like to start, they might say something like – “A Lemonade Stand” on the side of the road, or a “Car Wash” in the local area.

When you ask a women what is the best type of business opportunity to start, the might initially say “A Jewellery Business” or “Child Care” etc.

When you ask a man what type of business opportunities come to mind to start part-time with, they might say something like “Lawn Mowing Round”, or “Get a Franchise that’s already working”.

Can you quickly see how everyone is going in different business directions?

Then you have age brackets to deal with. Do you think suitable business opportunites for entrepreneurial women over 50 will be the same as a child would want to get involved with? Kids are entrepreneurs also! There are some very successfull young kids making money online with all kinds of biz opps that you and I have probably never considered.

We would encourage you to put some time aside one night around the dinner table and see if you can brainstorm 10, 20, 50 ideas for a family business to start as a team… you will be suprised what you come up with! Then start your research on who’s doing it, how they are doing and what type of competition you might be up against. If it’s going to be extremely competitive, then move onto the next idea.

How many people offer ‘TradeMe’ coaching in NZ? I couldn’t see anyone offering this service at the time of writing this article. Go for it!

This is a very interesting ‘pet’ topic of mine… i’ve been building websites for myself over the past few years, and it’s the best business move i’ve ever made. Actually, i’m not a business person at all, just someone who makes money online from home here in NZ.

It’s amazing how many people have absolutely no idea that it’s not that difficult to make money online! There are millions of people ‘shopping’ online every single day… so all you need to do is provide those ‘shoppers’ something to buy… and they’ll buy it!

The money question… do you buy an existing profitable online business, or start your own?

Let me give you the tip right here, right now. Most people who are making a decent profit online from home in NZ don’t sell their website! Why? Because it’s the ultimate form of business! Yep… if you have a business that’s making you passive income online, why would you sell it. A legitimate online business can be run from anywhere in the world, so if you have one or more of them, you can ‘live and play’ anywhere and money will keep rolling in. This is why you don’t sell a working profitable website.

New Ideas for a Business to Start from Home NZ

Everyone is looking for a simple business idea for a business to start from home in NZ, right? Good news.

Here is the toughtest question to answer… do you start a business in the area of knowledge that you already have, or do you take a new ‘leap of faith’ and trust the marketing materials of a franchise or existing business for sale?

An existing business would be the more trustworthy business to buy, as it should already have an existing track record with established clients.

A franchise would could be slightly riskier, but the system is likely to be very streamlined and written into a manual in many cases, so very easy to follow.

A business opportunity is normally very cheap, and completely relies on you to drive it, create your own path, set your own pricing, create your own marketing materials etc… but the upside can be huge! I know a lady in NZ who recently invested $350 into a website, and within 7 months turned it into a $700 p/week home based business that is completely run online from home. Low cost to start, but huge upside if you get the opportunity up and running!

New business ideas: Here is where you need to put your entrepreneurial hat on… there are always different ways to start a business from home and make money in NZ, because all the ‘brains’ leave for international stardom and money… meanwhile leaving us back here in NZ with huge opportunities they overlooked!

Seriously, you can make more money mowing lawns or water blasting houses than you can on the minimum wage in NZ… and the only way is up from there.

All you need to do is think of an idea, and see if it’s selling on auction sites like Trademe. If it is, work out a way to beat the price of the competitors, and if you can’t find a start up business idea like yours, then list it in the ‘businesses for sale’ section looking for equity partners and see if you get interest! This will give you a quick indication if your ideas has any legs, because this website is one of the busiest in NZ and could give you a good intitial indicator.

NZ is the land of opportunities if you have a new business idea and want to promote it, as the population size is an excellent testing ground… and potentially very profitable!

What are the most popular small business opportunities in NZ?

The first question you need to ask is this… what is a small business? Is it just you and your partner (either wife or business partner etc)… or is it having 30 staff and being on the verge of becoming a medium size company.

First lets look at your position in life:

If you have a house mortgage, kids and financial pressures, then the thought of having a small business with only 5 staff could sound risky… incase you go through a quiet patch. Can you afford this risk? Have you done enough business research to give you enough certainly that it won’t ‘potentially fall over’ in the first year? If you need to secure your house against a loan for a small business, be prepared to buy yourself some hair dye, because you’re about to get grey hair!

If you are a young professional couple with a six figure income between you, then you have a much higher chance of making it work… or do you? No… you don’t! I just thought I would make you feel better about yourself for a minute… but it’s nothing to do with the money you have. The truth of the matter is that if you’re in a job as we speak, you are already behind the eight ball in business… otherwise you would be in business already, right?

Now, you can disregard everything said above!

The reality is that you can put a small business opportunity in the hands of a professional person, and they can screw it up …. fast. Put the same business opportunity in the hands of a motivated person with no money, and they can make it a huge success because they don’t have anything to fall back on!

So what is a good small business opportunity to own?

The biggest mistake I made was to start businesses that were one-off sales to make a profit. The problem is that you always need to sell to maintain your income!

The best analogy I can give about a good business to start that everyone can understand, is where you sell the product once, and the customer keeps paying you over and over again every few weeks, like lawn mowing. Now i’m not saying you should start a mowing business, but i’m saying that companies that mow lawns get the client, then keep servicing them over and over again…. therefore it’s repeat clientele… and adds HUGE asset value to the business.

Try selling a small business opportunity that is based on one-off sales…. you won’t get much for it! A business with a list of repeat clients could get up to 3-4 times turnover!

Go outside your comfort zone and look at opportunities on this website that you normally wouldn’t look at….
